All classes will be starting at the Beginner's level for new students. Continuing students will progress up the curriculum ladder to doing more complex garments. This class focuses on sewing clothing, although a couple of the beginner projects are bags and masks, as they are easy and introduce necessary beginning skills.

SUPPLIES

​

Sew by the Sea will supply all the materials for the first two sewing projects. Your child just has to purchase a sewing kit on Amazon ($20) and a wrist pin cushion (Miss Carol has these). Supplies have to be brought to the second class at the latest.

The sewing kit includes:

• ​43 spools of multiple colors of 150 yard sewing thread

• 8" professional cutting scissors for fabric

• snippers

• seam ripper

• tape measure on rotary spinner

• regular tape measure

• 30 needles

• 30 buttons

• pack of long pearl pins​​

• 4 bobbins

• thimble

• safety pins

• clips

• buttons

• hand sewing needles all sizes

• needle threader

• fabric pencil for marking dots

• tweezers, snaps and crochet hooks

• pack of pearlized pins

*A separate tote bag to carry sewing projects back and forth is recommended.

​​After the first 2 projects, the child will be responsible for bringing in their own fabric (or get it from Miss Carol's stock of fabrics) for their own sewing projects, all of which will be clothing. 

​
