Different methods of making patterns
Flat Pattern Design and Draping
Flat Pattern Design is taught with the Slash and Spread Method.
By Hand No Computers.

Draping Design - Designing by using a professional dress form,
which I have.
Knock Off Designs
"Knocking Off" a design means that you copy the design and make the pattern. In this case, one of my students knocked off a $158.00 Men's Shirt, made the pattern and sewed the sample.
Only he reveresed the colors. The original is white in the front and black in the back. He made it black in the front and white in the back.
Here he is wearing the shirt, not entirely finished yet.
I can teach you how to "knock off" or copy any design, either by copying a picture or an actual sample.

Working for 4 years as a professional patternmaker for Jones Apparel Groups, I also taught at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale for 3 years and Bauder Fashion College in Ft. Lauderdale for 5.

Fashion Sketching for Production
-
Draping (I have a professional dress form)
More About the Instructor...
Straight out of Fashion Design college, I worked in Quality Control for a suit manufacturer. Then I became a Sketch Artist for designers, and my third job was a pattern maker for Jones of New York. I worked there for 4 years and trained with Italian tailor-pattern makers.
I then moved to Florida and worked in the Fashion Industry as a clothing designer for children's clothes. When they started to outsource all their design to China, I pivoted and taught Pattern Making, Draping, Sketching and Design classes at Bauder Fashion College on Dixie Highway and Commercial Blvd. for 5 years. I also managed the program of over 100 students as the Fashion Design Program Director at Bauder Fashion College.
I then went to the Art Institute and taught various design classes for the next several years. Clothing construction on commercial sewing machines, Flat Pattern Design and Draping were my specialties.
